SOUTH BEND — The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival will hold auditions Jan. 27 to 29 for its 2023 season, which includes The Professional Company's production of "Hamlet" and a two-night staged reading in August of Lauren Gunderson's "The Book of Will."

"Hamlet," directed by Vanessa Morosco, runs Aug. 15 to 27 at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

A director, actor, and ethicist based out of New York City, Morosco's credits include productions for the American Shakespeare Center, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Southwest Shakespeare Company and more.

Her all-female production of "Othello" won the BroadwayWorld Phoenix Best Play of 2019 award.

Directed by Grant Mudge, Gunderson's "The Book of Will" blends some of Shakespeare's greatest passages with a comic tale of the efforts of his buddies to preserve the playwright's legacy.

Auditions take place Jan. 27 and 28 at the University of Notre Dame and Jan. 29 in Chicago.

NDSF's Touring Company will return in 2024.
