A new law requires voters to request a mail ballot each election year — not every two election cycles as before — no later than 5 p.m. Saturday. Here's how:

If you miss the deadline ...

If you miss the Aug. 13 deadline to request a mail ballot, you may:

  • Pick up a mail ballot from your county's elections office by 5 p.m. Aug. 22

  • Vote early from Aug. 13 through Aug. 20 (see details below)

  • Vote on Election Day at your assigned polling place

Early voting ID requirements

An ID with your photo and signature is required. These are acceptable:

  • U.S. passport

  • Florida driver license

  • Florida ID card from Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

  • Debit or credit card

  • Military ID

  • Student ID

  • Retirement center ID

  • Neighborhood association ID

  • Public assistance ID

  • Florida concealed weapon or firearm license

  • Government employee ID issued by any federal, state, county or municipal agency

  • Veteran health ID from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

If your photo ID does not show your signature, you will be asked to show an additional form of identification with your signature. If you do not have the required ID, you may cast a provisional ballot, the eligibility of which a canvassing board will evaluate.
