August is National Dog Month, and local businesses are celebrating our four-legged friends. Here is how you can spoil a fur baby while supporting a Nashville-based business.
Have a sleepover with a shelter dog at W Nashville
The Gulch's luxury hotel W Nashville at 300 12th Ave. S. has teamed up with nonprofit Nashville Humane Association to offer a number of monthlong promotions that will contribute to the support of shelter animals.
Rover Night, which will take place each Tuesday in August, will allow a guest to stay in an upscale guestroom with one of Nashville Human Association's resident dogs for no cost. The purpose is to provide the adoptable buddy with a chance to be pampered outside of the animal shelter as the environment can be an overwhelming experience for the pups while they wait to be introduced to their forever homes.
Nashville Humane Association will organize for collars, crates, dog meals, towels and treats to be available for participating dogs. “Adopt Me” leashes for the dogs to wear throughout the W will be given as well. For the guests, overnight valet parking and food and beverage credit for $50, among other perks, will be provided. Designated Rover Nights at W Nashville are on Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Stay at the JW Marriott Nashville to donate to Friends of Metro Animal Care and Control
JW Marriott Nashville has pledged to donate $100 per each reservation to Friends of Metro Animal Care and Control in a promotion called the Friends of MACC Giveback. Volunteer-based nonprofit Friends of Metro Animal Care and Control is dedicated to preventing pet homelessness in Davidson County and is the only open intake shelter in the area, housing 4,000 stray, surrendered or abandoned animals, included aggressive, injured, sick or senior dogs.
Additionally, JW Marriott will waive the pet fee for the stay, and a tennis ball, dog bowl, food and water bowl placemats and treats from Crossroads Pets will be provided courtesy of the hotel. Bookings can be made until Aug. 31, and travel dates can occur anytime from now until Feb. 28, 2023.

Party on International Dog Day
International Dog Day is on Aug. 26.
Hathorne at 4708 Charlotte Pike will be throwing a dog-friendly patio event that day from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Nelson's Green Brier Distillery will be serving specialty cocktails, and all proceeds will go toward benefitting Franklin-based golden retriever rescue Adopt a Golden Nashville.
All dog lovers and their pups are also invited to the W Nashville Yappy Hour with Nashville Humane Association on Aug. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. Furry companions can ruff it up in the puppy play pen with other Fidos and their humans at the Living Room Bar and outdoor terrace on the lobby level. There will be local pet store and supply vendors and live music, and a variety of cocktails and dog goodies from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the official beverage sponsor, will be handed out.
During August, every bar at W Nashville will also offer a cocktail in which $1 from every drink sold will be donated to Nashville Human Association. The W will match the exact dollar amount of the total donation at the end of National Dog Month.
