With the holidays right around the corner, it's time to honor the best performers from the Augusta-area in fall sports.

It was another spectacular season for the area in boys cross country, as several runners brought home state titles and others capped off stellar careers.

Here are the top male runners in the Augusta area:

Hayes Trapp

Junior/Augusta Prep

Trapp finished his junior campaign as a state champ, taking the top spot in the Georgia Independent School Association 2A state meet with a remarkable 16:54.10 mark. Trapp also took the top spot in the Region 4-AA meet (16:38.44).

Ben Monnig

Senior/Augusta Prep

Monning had an outstanding season in his own right. The senior finished behind his teammate as runner-up in both the GISA state meet (18:08.00) and Region 4-AA meet (17:51.88).

Nasrudin Mohamed

Senior/Grovetown High School

Mohamed took the Georgia High School Association Region 3-AAAAAA meet with a time of 16:36.04. He followed that with a seventh-place finish (16:30.15) in the GHSA 6A state meet in Carrollton, Ga.

Eli Scott

Senior/Westminster Schools of Augusta

Scott ended his senior season at the top of the mountain, taking first place in the GISA 3A state meet with a time of 17:45.64. In the process, he helped lead the Wildcats to a team state title. Scott also earned first place in the Region 4-AAA meet (17:45.02).

Ethan Kurilko

Senior/Lakeside High School

Kurilko was the runner-up in the Region 3-AAAAAA meet with a time of 16:54.39. He followed that performance with a 10th-place finish in the GHSA 6A state meet (16:42.57).

Caleb Carter

Senior/Lakeside High School

Carter finished the Region 3-AAAAAA meet with the third-place finish, logging a time of 17:10.00. The senior added a 17th-place finish at the 6A state meet with a 16:53.51 mark.

These also are all nominees for the boys’ cross country runner of the year for the Augusta Area High School Sports Awards to be held in the spring. The winner will be the announced at the show. More details about the program are coming soon.

During the live show, these nominees will be honored, along with the top three finalists and the player of the year. All official nominees can receive a free ticket. Check back later in the year for information on how to RSVP.
