Augusta County man killed in ATV crash identified by state police

CHURCHVILLE — Virginia State Police have identified an Augusta County man killed last week in an all-terrain vehicle mishap.

The crash took place late in the afternoon in the 500 block of Stover Shop Road in Churchville on Thursday, Aug. 31.

Police said 54-year-old William Tait Jr. was driving the ATV on his property when he became trapped underneath the vehicle after it rolled on top of him.

Tait died at the scene.
