Augusta County: Where do you vote and who's on the ballot? What you need to know.
VERONA — Augusta County voting precincts can be tricky if you are new to the area. Maybe even if you aren't. Some of the voting precincts and polling places changed in 2022. And three locations house more than one precinct, two house precincts in more than one district.
The easy way to determine where you vote on Election Day or find out the district in which you reside is on the Virginia Department of Elections website. On that site there is a section — vote.elections.virginia.gov — that allows you to register to vote, check your registration status, apply to vote by absentee mail and, most importantly for this story, find your polling location.
In order to find your polling place you'll need to enter your name, date of birth, last four digits of your social security number, and the city or county where you live. You'll also have to check a box certifying that the information you entered is your own and not someone else's.
The information provided will let you check to make sure your full name and address is correct on your registration status. It will tell you where you vote on Election Day. It will tell you the local district in which you reside, as well as the state senate and house districts that cover where you live.
While the general election isn't until Nov. 7, in-person, early voting is underway, ending Saturday, Nov. 4. Voters do not need a reason to vote early. All early voting in Augusta County is in the Government Center in Verona.
Hours for early voting — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4)
Drop boxes available at Government Center (as well as all polling places on Nov. 7) for absentee ballots sent to you by mail
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 16, although voters may register after this date through Election Day and vote using a provisional ballot. The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is Oct. 27.
