Augusta issues update on what services are and are not available amid network disruption

Augusta is continuing to work to restore services after an external actor disrupted the network, according to a news release from the municipal government Friday evening.

The disruption began on May 21 and both internal IT workers and outside specialists are working on the issue, according to the release. Augusta is not in communication with the cybercrime group that has claimed responsibility, it said.

"A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the extent to which any sensitive personal information may have been impacted by this incident," the release read. "Augusta remains committed to taking all appropriate actions to notify any impacted individuals identified, once a determination is made."

The press release includes a list of government services that are currently fully or partially functioning. These include:

Operational

  • Public Safety - all essential operations, including fire, dispatch and animal services, operational

  • Augusta 311 - directing calls

  • Augusta transit - operating normally

  • Augusta Utilities - billing and processing payments as per usual

  • Environmental Services - picking up trash normally

  • Finance department - payroll and vendor check processing

Some restrictions

  • Planning and Development - in person requests only at all locations

  • Tax Commissioner's Office - temporarily not processing property taxes, but continuing to handle motor vehicle transactions including tag renewal, in person and at kiosks
