Augusta recently lost one of its favorite journalists.

"Ramblin" Don Rhodes died over the weekend. While an obituary has not been released, Posey Funeral Directors confirmed that services are pending and they expect to release more information Monday.

Rhodes wrote thousands of columns over the years and was deeply woven into the local entertainment scene. While at the Augusta Chronicle, he connected with several entertainers including Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. His work has appeared in other local publications like Augusta Magazine and Augusta Good News.

He was also the author of multiple books such as "Georgia Myths and Legends: The True Stories Behind History’s Mysteries" and "Georgia Icons: 50 Classic Views of the Peach State."
