AURORA, IL – The City of Aurora will host a Thanksgiving meal giveaway for thousands of families on Saturday to help them have a good holiday despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The city's sixth pop-up pantry will be the largest one yet, offer meals for 2,500 families.

"Food insecurity continues to be a significant challenge for our families," said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin. "As we approach the holiday season, we want to make sure that not only can families have food on the table, but they can rebuild some sense of normalcy as they gather in a safe and limited manner on Thanksgiving."

The families receiving meals pre-registered online and capacity was reached in less than 24 hours.
