Aurora Light Up Northern Skies in Canada's Yukon Territory

A lucky photographer caught a dazzling display of the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, in a remote part of Canada’s northwestern Yukon territory on Thursday night, August 18.

Photographer Andy Witteman told Storyful he captured the video while on a 21-hour drive through Yukon, which is a popular area to visit for people hoping to witness the phenomenon.

“This is an area called Destruction Bay; a wild and beautiful back country spot filled with bears and northern lights!” Witteman said. “I got lucky with a spectacular show from the auroras, the first really big one of the year!” Credit: Andy Witteman via Storyful
