Aurora plans movie night, festival, fireworks as part of Fourth of July celebration

Aurora's Independence Day celebration will begin on July 3 with a Drive-In Movie Night and continue on July 4 with a 1-mile and 5K run/walk, a parade, a festival and fireworks display.

"Sing 2" will be shown on a large inflatable screen in the grassy field adjacent to the north parking lot of Aurora High School starting at approximately 9:15 p.m. July 3. No registration is required. The parking lot will open at 8:30 p.m. and parking spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

On July 4, the annual 1-mile and 5K Fun Runs will be held at Bicentennial Park. Registration is open and information is available at hermescleveland.com.

The traditional community parade will step off at 11 a.m. July 4. from Barrington Town Center, turns south on Route 306 before making its way onto West Pioneer Trail, and ends at Aurora High School.

Following the parade there will be a family festival at Kiwanis-Moore Park including a DJ, carnival concessions, Jungle Terry animal show, balloon designs by Flower Clown, visits from favorite characters, and a celebration of the Parade Grand Marshal.

Later that evening, the city’s annual fireworks display will light up the sky from the center of town beginning at dusk.
