Austin among U.S. cities with highest influx of Millennials in 2022, report finds
The largest generation bloc in the country is on the move, and many are heading to Central Texas.
Financial technology company SmartAsset recently released a study on the U.S. cities with the largest influx of Millennials in 2022, during which a fourth of all Millennials moved cities, according to the study. Millennials are defined as those between the ages of 25 to 44.
In terms of the percentage of the city's population, Austin ranked 9th among destinations for Millennials who moved in, with a rate of 10.71%. In 2022, over 103,000 Millennials moved into Austin, where they now constitute just over 40% of the city's total population, according to SmartAsset.

Killeen, Texas, ranked 8th in the study. Nearly 17,000 Millennials moved there in 2022.
A separate study by SmartAsset found Texas is also a popular moving destination for Gen Xers, or people aged 45 to 54. Wichita Falls, Texas, ranked 8th on the list of cities with the highest percentage of Gen Xers moved in relative to the city's population.
Allen, Texas, and Frisco, Texas, were found to have the largest population of Gen Xers relative to each city's total population in the country. The company used data from the U.S. Census Bureau to inform both studies.
