Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation trustees approve grants totaling $213,500

The trustees of the Austin-Bailey Health and Wellness Foundation have approved grants totaling $213,500 to 12 nonprofit organizations and nine schools.

The foundation supports programs that promote the physical and mental well-being of people living in Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.

The foundation provided $41,000 in scholarships to students engaged in health-related studies at Aultman College, Kent State University Stark, Kent State University Tuscarawas, Malone University, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Stark State College, University of Akron Wayne College, University of Mount Union and Walsh University.

Those receiving grants were:

  • Christian Children’s Home in Wooster: $5,000 for special program to help vulnerable children or youth return to their normal developmental stage.

  • Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton: $50,000 for emergency department catheterization lab upgrade to enable performance of an angioplasty in the emergency room.

  • Compassion Delivered in Hartville: $5,300 for purchase of food freezer.

  • Faith in Action in Massillon: $10,000 for senior services.

  • Mount Eaton Care Center in Mount Eaton: $19,900 for equipment update and room renovation.

  • OneEighty Inc. in Wooster: $5,000 to initiate primary care services program.

  • Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster: $10,000 for grief counseling program.

  • Osnaburg Local School District in East Canton: $25,000 for development of health curriculum programming to be implemented in the new Foltz center.

  • Quote International in Massillon: $25,100 for classroom amplification systems in Lake Cable Elementary Schools.

  • Refuge of Hope in Canton: $5,000 for dental care for homeless men.

  • Ronald McDonald House Charities in Akron: $7,500 for free room, meals and amenities for families with a child being treated in an area hospital.

  • Stark County Educational Service Center in Jackson Township: $5,700 for assistive technology training designed to assist individuals with limited mobility and communicative ability.

The foundation has two grant cycles each year, and welcomes grant requests that are health and wellness-related. Nonprofit organizations should call the foundation office first to discuss their project or program. The deadline for submitting grants for the next cycle is Nov. 28.
