Austin Community College Events Nov. 30-Dec. 6, 2020

AUSTIN, TX — Austin Community College District remains a hotbed activity from now until early December.

Registration for spring classes is underway for Austin Community College District, with the spring semester begins starting on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Among the events and announcements between Monday through Sunday (Dec. 6) are:

  • Two recent reports ranked the college district's online and distance education programs among the top in the state and nation. The college district tanked among the top 20 colleges nationwide — and is the only college in Texas — to be recognized on OnlineU.com's 2021 Best Online Associate Degree list. The college also ranked among the top in Texas according to TexasOnlineColleges.com's 2021 Best Online Community Colleges in Texas report for its distance education programs. The college continues to work toward improving its DE programs, and it's building off lessons learned during COVID-19.   • Courses begin for first ATX+Egypt Entrepreneurship Program: The first international exchange program for fashion designers in Austin and Egypt begins Tuesday, Dec. 1. Sixteen brands have been invited to participate in the inaugural program. The program is offered in partnership with the ACC Fashion Incubator, City of Austin Economic Development Department and the United States (U.S.) Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. It prepares students for fashion management and entrepreneurship through domestic and global growth opportunities.

  • Austin Community College honors record-breaking graduation class with virtual commencement ceremony: More than 3,400 graduates are invited to attend the college district's fall virtual graduation ceremony. The event is scheduled to take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. Former State Sen. Kirk Watson is slated as keynote speaker this year.   • Hit the road and fast track to a new career: Demand and wages continue to climb for truck drivers in Central Texas. ACC's Continuing Education Commercial Vehicle Operator Training Program offers the opportunity to become certified as a commercial truck driver in less than two months.   • Learning virtual interview skills for today’s jobs: The job search continues to change and now more than ever, virtual interview abilities require new skills. ACC’s Career Services team hosts a series of career support webinars to help those seeking employment gain the skills they need. Register now to get hands-on practice with mock interviews tailored to your specific industry, job, and experience level 3 p.m., Tuesday (Dec. 1).
