Austin Dillon Has Tested Positive For COVID-19
One month after Jimmie Johnson's positive test for the virus at the Brickyard 400, Richard Childress Racing has announced that Austin Dillon has become the second full-time NASCAR driver to test positive for COVID-19.
Per the team's announcement, Dillon tested positive earlier this morning. In accordance with NASCAR regulations and CDC guidance, he is self-quarantining away from his team and will be replaced by RCR Xfinity Series driver Kaz Grala in the #3 Camaro for the remainder of the race weekend at Daytona.
Dillon's win at Texas means that he is already qualified for the Playoff postseason, meaning that he will still have a chance to compete for a championship so long as he is able to return to the car when the series begins those races early next month.
