Austin Elementary students showcase rock and roll moves at annual 50s Day celebration

Guys and dolls in poodle skirts and leather jackets shook the stage at Austin Elementary School annual 50s Day celebration.

Students from kindergarten through fifth grade put on a presentation showcasing rock and roll dance moves they learned in class.

Greasers and gals performed dance styles that defined the decade like the Jitterbug, Swing and the Stroll.

The audience heard notable songs from the 1950s like “Splish Splash,” “Rock-In Robin” and “Hound Dog.”

Each student was highlighted at center stage during the Stroll with their partner so parents could snap a shot of their child.

Everyone left the stage on cloud nine and with a modern memory from a past decade.
