Austin hosting emergency preparedness event Wednesday

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A City of Austin agency said it is holding monthly events across the city to get everyone ready in case of emergencies.

The next Emergency Preparedness Pop-Up event for Austin’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management happens Wednesday at the Pleasant Hill Branch Library on East William Cannon Drive from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

HSEM said its workers will be there along with other city employees and emergency responders to give tips, information and supplies.

The first 25 to show up will get an emergency supply kit, with a limit of one per household, according to HSEM.

HSEM hosts the events in each council district on the third Wednesday of each month.
