Austin Meals Program Summer 2020 Guide

AUSTIN, TX—In Texas, it's estimated 1 in 7 Texans or 1.4 million households and over 4 million individuals experience food insecurity. While hunger and food insecurity are closely related, food insecurity signifies a lack of available financial resources for food at the level of the household, and Texas is one of just 15 states with higher food insecurity than the national average. As the 2019-2020 academic year comes to a close, and job losses continue as part of the reality of COVID-19, many families will shoulder the burden of not being able to provide meals for their household.
