Austin police identify body pulled from Lady Bird Lake on Saturday

Austin police identified the man whose body was pulled from Lady Bird Lake on Saturday near Longhorn Dam.

Officers found John Christopher Hays-Clark, 30, after responding to calls related to a possible dead body in the water in the 2700 block of Canterbury Street on April 15 at about 1:20 p.m. First responders performed a water rescue, after which Hays-Clark was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said they do not suspect foul play was involved in his death based on the available information but added that the investigation is "still in the early stages." The police did not provide any further information.

This is the fourth body found in the lake in the past couple of months, leading many to speculate online and on social media that Austin has a serial killer. However, police have said there is no foul play associated with the deaths.

Many of the bodies have been found near the Rainey Street entertainment district, prompting an outcry from residents and local officials alike for increased security measures near the lake.
