Jun. 11—AUSTIN — An Austin church and a jewelry store were hit by vandals this week.

About 5 p.m. Thursday, a police officer reported to a call about property damage at Bendixen Jewelry, 401 Main St. N., after someone spray-painted the side of the building.

An employee saw the number "666" in yellow, black and white spray paint on the west wall, facing an alleyway, earlier that day.

About 90 minutes later, a Austin police officer responded to a property damage report at the International Word Fellowship Church, 827 Fourth Ave. NE.

The church door had "BOZO" written on it, with a pentagram inside the last "O" and two upside-down crosses at the beginning and end of the word. A parishioner had notified the pastor of the damage, which was estimated at about $27 in repairs, for paint and labor.

The two locations are a little over a mile from each other.

Both incidents are believed to had taken place between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, according to the jewelry store owner and pastor.
