Austin woman injured in Highway 218 crash Monday morning

Oct. 23—UDOLPHO TOWNSHIP, Minn. — One person was injured in a crash on U.S. Highway 218 near Blooming Prairie on Monday morning, Oct. 23, 2023.

A 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Highway 218 attempting to turn left on 320th Street and a 2014 Honda CR-V was also traveling north on the highway when the vehicles collided in the intersection, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

The Honda driver, 30-year-old Kayla Lynn Rodgers of Austin, Minnesota, had non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

The Ford driver, 53-year-old Wade Donald Schwinefus of Spring Valley, was not injured, according to the report.

The road conditions were wet, according to the report.

The Blooming Prairie Fire Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and Mower County Sheriff's Office also responded to the crash.
