Australian 'Karen' Calls on 'The Good Ones' to Step Up After Name Gets a Bad Rep

Karen Hayes had enough of the negative attention her first name was receiving after several viral videos showing some women, colloquially termed ‘Karens’ for their displays of rude and obnoxious behaviour, circulated amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a bid to break away from the derogatory stereotype associated with the name ‘Karen’, Hayes took to social media to show “#NotAllKarens” want to “speak to your manager”.

“I’m one of the good Karens,” the Guide Dogs Victoria CEO says in the clip.

“I wear my mask to protect others and help Australia get back to work sooner.

“I’m here today to reclaim the name Karen. On behalf of all the Karens who do the right thing during this pandemic , the ones who don’t carry on down at Bunnings, It’s time we come together and show the world that it’s #NotAllKarens.

“I call on you, the Karens and ‘Kazzas’ of the world to stand up as bright shining examples of the Karens you want to see in the world,” she said. Credit: Karen Hayes via Storyful
