History is on the line in Melbourne Australia when world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty and No. 30 Danielle Collins compete for the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup Saturday in the Australian Open women's final.

The highly anticipated matchup features American tennis star Collins, 28, who has two career singles titles and Australian star Barty, 28, who has 14 careers singles titles.

This is Barty's third Grand Slam final, having won the 2019 French Open and Wimbledon in 2021. She is the first Australian woman to advance to the Melbourne final since Wendy Turbull in 1980 and is seeking to become the first Australian to win the year's first Grand Slam since Chris O'Neil in 1978.

Collins will play in the first Grand Slam final of her career after surpassing her semifinal appearance Down Under in 2019. The St. Petersburg, Florida native was a college tennis star at the University of Virginia and won NCAA championships in 2014 as a sophomore and 2016 as a senior.

The two have met four times. Barty leads the series 3-1, while Collins won their most recent matchup at the Adelaide International in 2021, 6-3, 6-4.

Barty took down Madison Keys 6-1, 6-3 to reach the final, while Collins defeated Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-1.
