An authorized Lego reseller will be opening up a franchise in Sioux Falls.
Jenn and Ryan Dean are bringing a Bricks & Minifigs location to Sioux Falls with an expected opening date in late May into June, according to the husband and wife duo.
The store will be located at 2804 W. 41st St.
Jenn Dean said the idea of bringing a Bricks & Minifigs franchise to Sioux Falls came back when she was considering a career change after having worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years.
"August is when we initially really started going down the road with this franchise," Jenn Dean said. "Our family has been Lego fans, our kids grew up with Legos, we grew up with Lego and so it was it was something that that I pretty much determined that I would like to do."
Ryan Dean said he was familiar with Lego but not as much as Jenn. The Dean family includes Jenn's two adult daughters and Ryan's two teenage sons. And according to Ryan, it's going to be a family affair at Bricks & Minifigs Sioux Falls.
"We're gonna keep them involved as much as they want and can be, quite honestly so it's a family affair," Ryan Dean said.
What will Bricks & Minifigs Sioux Falls be selling?
The Bricks & Minifigs brand of stores are authorized Lego resellers, according to the Deans. Lego products will make up a vast majority of merchandise.
The business will sell, buy and trade products so customers can bring in their own Lego products to trade-in for others or get paid for them.
"We will have anywhere from small little sets, up to the rare high-end collectible sets," Jenn Dean said. "Anything in-between to meet everyone's budget and anyone's needs that they may have."
What's the age range for the store's products?
There's going to be products for toddlers up to adults, Jenn Dean said
Lego products are very popular with adults with some of the more exclusive and bigger sets going for hundreds of dollars. Those collector sets will be available at Bricks & Minifigs along with other less expensive sets for the casual Lego buyer.
"We want it to be an experience. They can spend hours digging through the bulk bins and looking at old sets or even reminiscing about sets they maybe had when they were younger," Jenn Dean said.
What else will be available at the store?
A party room for events and birthday parties will be available at Bricks & Minifigs. There, people not as familiar can be introduced to Lego and given a small set for them to build.
"Community involvement is really what we're looking to start," Jenn Dean said. "Unfortunately, within the Sioux Falls community, there isn't a lot of Lego League options and so that's one of our goals."
The Deans said they want to share the joy of Lego with everybody in Sioux Falls. They're planning summer activities for school-aged children and an adult league for the older Lego lovers.
Updates on the business's operations and opening can be found on their Facebook page.
