Auto racing: VanHouse takes checkered flag in Superior

Jul. 17—SUPERIOR — Silver Bay's Deven VanHouse moved up from the fifth starting spot to take the checkered flag for his first Late Model feature win of the season as part of Hall of Fame Night Friday, July 15, at Gondik Law Speedway.

Danny Vang of Deerwood, Minnesota, took second in the 25-lap Late Model finale while Travis Budisalovich of Minneapolis was third.

Superior's Al Uotinen (Modifieds), Superior's Andy Grymala (Super Stocks), Superior's Cody Carlson (Midwest Modifieds), Duluth's Aaron Bernick (Pure Stocks) and Ashland's DeJay Jarecki (Hornets) were Friday's other feature winners, with Bernick and Jarecki earning sweeps by also winning their heats.

Next week Gondik Law Speedway hosts the Twin Ports Twin 25s, which includes the XR Northern Storm Series and Wissota Late Model Challenge Series. Look for coverage of the Friday, July 22, event at duluthnewstribune.com.
