Whether you're visiting Athens for the Thanksgiving holiday or planning to have a meal out with friends, a few local restaurants will have you covered, including a special event hosted by one of the Classic City's most well-known culinary figures.

Here's a list of dining options and hours of operation for Nov. 24.

Weaver D's Fine Delicious Foods (1016 E. Broad St.) will have a gospel music celebration at noon, followed by a Thanksgiving meal at 2 p.m. The restaurant will be accepting non-perishable food item donations on Nov. 22 and 23. Athens band R.E.M. loved owner Dexter Weaver's southern cooking so much they used his slogan, "Automatic for the People," as the title of one of their albums.

Chuck's Fish (22 W. Broad St.) seafood restaurant will host Five Athens' free Thanksgiving Feast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with all donations going towards Project Safe, a nonprofit organization working to end domestic violence.

Café on Lumpkin (1700 S. Lumpkin St.) will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving their morning breakfast and midday lunch items from bagels, muffins and French toast to salads and wraps, including a cranberry turkey sandwich.

Ted's Most Best (254 W. Washington St.) is offering their artisanal Italian menu selections from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with its signature 10-inch pizzas in more than a dozen varieties, calzones, pasta, salads, panini sandwiches and sliders.

China Star Superbuffet (3567 Atlanta Hwy.) told the Banner-Herald that their all-you-can eat buffet and regular dining menu will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. including their tried and true Chinese restaurant staples of soups, noodles, fried rice, sushi and hibachi.

Where large chain eateries are concerned, Athens area Cracker Barrel restaurants will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., IHOP will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Waffle House is open 24 hours.
