Auxiliary donates $200,000 to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital on Monday

DOVER ‒ The Union Hospital Auxiliary donated $200,000 to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital during a Monday luncheon.

"This hospital receives outstanding financial support from the Union Hospital Auxiliary, but so much more, too," said Dr. Thomas Rogers, president of Union Hospital. "Many times when I am walking around the hospital, I see donor recognition plaques for the various items and programs that this auxiliary has supported. We continue to thank them as a team and individually for everything they do to help provide for high-quality healthcare right here in our community."

The Union Hospital Auxiliary is an independent charitable organization with its primary mission of providing support to Union Hospital.

Jenifer Ress, president of the auxiliary, thanked the group's members for their time, dedication and talents, saying she is proud to witness what the organization accomplishes every year. She thanked the community for its support of the auxiliary and its fund-raising projects.

“The auxiliary’s mission is very well established and that is to assist the hospital in providing high-quality patient care in our community,” Ress said. “The auxiliary members continue to develop fundraising ideas and then follow through to produce events that help generate funds and promote our support for our hometown hospital. I look forward to another exciting and productive year ahead.”

The hospital will use the money to buy patient-care equipment and other items that support patient care, Ress said.

“We continue to be committed as an organization to assisting the hospital to provide patients with the very best care possible, which includes appropriate patient-care equipment and other improvements and enhancements,” she said.

Since its organization in 1949, the auxiliary has donated more than $5.2 million to the hospital. In the past 10 years, it has donated more than $2.1 million.

The auxiliary holds several fundraising projects throughout the year, including the Warther’s Christmas Tree Festival at the Ernest Warther Museum and Gardens at Dover.

Planning is under way for the 30th annual Warther’s Christmas Tree Festival scheduled for Nov. 11-19, and its annual “Preview Party” on Nov. 10. The auxiliary partners with hospital caregivers in the operation of the Corner Shop gift shop located inside the hospital entrance.

The auxiliary welcomes new members and ideas for fundraising events and programs. For more information, contact any auxiliary member. Details about the auxiliary also are available on the Union Hospital Auxiliary page on Facebook.
