Ava DuVernay has officially offloaded her Hollywood Hills starter home. The Oscar-nominated director, best known for films like Selma, 13th, and A Wrinkle in Time, originally listed the three-story Midcentury modern home for $2.475 million late last year, but ultimately sold it for $2.06 million this month, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Situated on a hillside overlooking the city, the 3,600-square-foot house is relatively unassuming from the outside, but opens up to a chic, light-filled interior with skylights, floor-to-ceiling windows, and three wide patio decks. The open-concept living area features wood-plank floors and clerestory windows on one side, and a sleek chef’s kitchen with concrete flooring and dove-grey cabinetry opens to a brightly lit dining area and airy living room.

On the lower level is the main suite, which has its own sitting area, walk-in closet, and spa-like bathroom featuring a deep-soaking tub, glass-lined shower, and dual vanities. Altogether, there are four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. A bonus room, currently with walls painted a dark shade of navy blue, could be used as a den or extra bedroom. A spiral staircase leads to the roof, which boasts unobstructed panoramic views.

DuVernay purchased the home for $1.85 million in 2017. Presently, she resides in a sprawling $9.8 million Los Feliz estate that she bought from Josh Schwartz, the creator of The O.C., in 2019. That home boasts a few more amenities than her Hollywood Hills starter home: a movie theater, a wine vault, a detached guest house, and an Olympic-size saltwater pool.
