The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has instructed importers to remove Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Celebrations chocolates manufactured in the Netherlands from the Singapore market immediately.

In a statement issued 24 February, AVA said the chocolate products were recalled “as a precautionary measure due to the possibility of the products containing pieces of plastic”.

The affected chocolates were manufactured between 5 December 2015 and 18 January 2016. Consumers who purchased these products labelled as “Mars Netherlands” are advised not to consume them.

A consumer in Germany first discovered a piece of plastic in a Snickers bar on 8 January.

The products have been recalled in 55 countries. The US chocolate manufacturer has not yet said how much the recall will cost them.
