'Avatar' star Elizabeth Yu joins Retta, Tituss Burgess in NBC murder mystery pilot

Elizabeth Yu is set to appear in a new NBC murder mystery pilot which was formerly titled "Murder by the Book.”

According to Deadline, the pilot was created by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs. They will serve as its writers and executive producers alongside American comedian Retta (“Parks and Recreation”), who has been cast as the show’s lead character.

Retta will play a prominent book reviewer who becomes a novice detective in an unusual seaside town. Yu has been cast as Young Maggie, a fan of murder mystery stories. Other cast members include Hilda Martin (“Superman & Lois”), Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), Tommy Dewey (“Casual”) and Siobhan Williams (“Black Box”).

Yu notably plays the iconic villain Azula in Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of "Avatar: The Lastt Airbender.” She will also be appearing in the upcoming romantic drama "May December" with Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore.
