Marvel's box office beast Avengers: Endgame could be in the running for Oscar glory next year.

Boasting arguably the greatest ever assemblage of A-listers, Endgame finds Earth's Mightiest Heroes existing in a post-Snap world following Thanos' success with the Infinity Stones.

Yes there's gallons of superhero juice flowing through this one, with an enviable budget and big action sequences, but it's also got enough heart and intelligence to attract the Academy.

Writing on Twitter, Fandango's Erik Davis shared: "There was a big screening of #AvengersEndgame for Academy members this week. Early sign of a major Oscars push? Is Endgame Best Picture material? I think it is."

This wouldn't be the first time an MCU epic crashed the Oscars party, either, as Ryan Coogler's awesome Black Panther was nominated for several awards (including Best Picture) at the 2019 ceremony.

Technical categories are no stranger to pristine, CGI-heavy pieces, so next year could possibly be a clean sweep for Endgame.

Meanwhile, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have weighed in on when the 'spoiler ban' can be lifted amongst fans.

"There has to be [a time limit] at some point, because part of why we make these movies is for conversation… I think it's Monday," they said.

"Give it two weekends. Not everybody can get there the first weekend. But if you haven't seen it yet, you should get out there and see it because I think by Monday people are going to be talking about it."

Avengers: Endgame is out now.
