Avengers: Endgame has revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the movie's female team-up moment.

Of the film's many memorable highlights, one that will stand out to many fans was when a terrified-looking Spider-Man/Peter Parker cradled the Infinity Gauntlet on the floor, before Brie Larson's Captain Marvel stood over him and offered her protection.

She was promptly joined by every single female superhero in the film (excluding Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, who by this point was well and truly dead).

Now, Marvel's official Instagram account has shared an on-set image of the actresses involved in the scene. Perhaps Scarlett is taking the photo?

In a recent interview with Empire, directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained why Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, the most powerful superhero in the MCU, didn't play a bigger part in Endgame.

"It was a story about the original six," Joe said. "That was the focus of the film, to conclude a 10-year saga about those characters. And Carol's a fairly new character."

"[Captain Marvel] had no depth of relationship with those other characters, which on one side is an opportunity, but also – when you have a story that's this size – you have to work with an economy of storytelling in order to maximise the journey in the movie," Anthony added.

"Because Carol was starting from scratch with everybody else, you needed to do more work on a storytelling level."

Avengers: Endgame is out in cinemas now.
