The average price of gas is now over $5 in Ohio, Cincinnati, just above nationwide trends

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Ohio surpassed $5 on Wednesday and isn't expected to go down anytime soon.

According to AAA, the state average for regular gas was $5.06 on Wednesday, higher than the national average, which was recorded at $4.96.

GasBuddy, which tracks real-time gas prices across the country, recorded the Ohio average on Wednesday as $5.07.

Drivers spotted $5.15 regular gasoline at a BP gas station in Cleves on Friday. According to AAA, the average price of gas in Cincinnati, excluding Kentucky gas stations, is now $5.07.

The average price of gas in Northern Kentucky hasn't quite reached the $5 threshold. According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gas in the area was $4.96 as of Wednesday.

In an email to The Enquirer, Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said he doesn't expect gas to reach $6 per gallon in Ohio, but that it's not impossible.
