Avon Lake Starts Planning 2022 Memorial Day Parade

AVON LAKE, OH — The Avon Lake Memorial Day Parade will return May 30.

Preparations for the parade have begun in earnest, the city announced Monday. This year's parade will start at 10 a.m. at Avon Lake High School, 175 Avon Belden Road, and will end at Veterans Memorial Park, 32756 Lake Road.

COVID-19 health and safety protocols will be in place for the parade, the city said, and will comply with any guidance from the state at that time. The 2020 parade was canceled because of the pandemic, but the 2021 parade was held with certain health restrictions in place.

Memorial Day is a commemoration and remembrance honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle.
