Ocala teacher receives national education award
Robert W. Ayton Jr., of Ocala, was recently named as the American Chemical Society Southeastern United States Region awardee for Excellence in Chemistry High School Teaching.
Of the seven regions in the United States, Ayton will represent the Southeastern Chemistry Teacher of the Year. He will receive the award in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the ACS Southeastern Regional Conference on Oct. 21. He will also be nominated for the 2023 National American Chemical Society James Bryant Conant award, the most prestigious award a chemistry teacher can get in the United States.
He has been a teacher at Redeemer Christian School for nine years, and is the Chairman of the Science Department currently. He was named Florida's High School Science Teacher of the Year by the Florida Association of Science Teachers in 2017, Florida's Chemistry Teacher of the Year by the American Chemical Society in 2014, and is a two-time Golden Apple Award winner for Marion County Public Schools. Ayton taught for nine years at Dunnellon High School previous to Redeemer Christian.
Ocala eye doctors honored by National Business Network
Drs. Juan Menjivar and Aida Glatter-Gotz, of Ritz & Johnson Fashion Eyecare in Ocala, recently received recognition at a recent meeting of Cleinman Performance Network for their continued commitment to professional development, according to a press release from Cleinman.
Menjivar and Glatter-Gotz, who have been in the network for five years, demonstrate a dedication to creating a healthy and beneficial work environment, as well as to maintaining a high level of patient care and satisfaction, the release said. As members of the network, a wisdom-sharing group of peer optometrists from across North America,
Menjivar and Glatter-Gotz provide valuable knowledge that highlights and contributes to the best practices in vision care and eye health, the release said.
