In a blink of an eye, we've officially entered the last month of 2018, which we're guessing means Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas album has been in your daily rotation since the clock stuck 12 on December 1; you've already compiled a list of goals you hope to achieve in the New Year, and roundups for the best music, TV shows, books, and movies of 2018 are about to flood your social media timelines. But we can't discuss best movies of the year without mentioning Crazy Rich Asians and of course, Awkwafina's unforgettable performance as the quippy and hilarious Goh Peik Lin.

Just this week Crazy Rich Asians received two Golden Globe nominations-one for best musical or comedy and Constance Wu's nod for best actress in a musical or comedy-so when we saw the actress at Shopbop's Let's Play Holiday event we asked her about the cast's reaction to the good news. "We were screaming, I couldn’t even believe it," she said. "I called Constance first to make sure to congratulate her and then I spoke to Kevin Jong and the rest of the cast. We were all literally freaking out."

Read on for more from our conversation where we talked all things Christmas, including the fact that she's never (!) heard DMX's "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" remix.

Crazy Rich Asians had a monumental impact at the box office but that still wasn't enough to make you move out of your Greenpoint, Brooklyn apartment. Why?

Funny thing is, I just moved to Los Angeles.

What made you move?

My lease was coming to an so it really came down to whether I wanted to dish out $8,000 a month for a 100-square-foot apartment or just move to Los Angeles. I’ve never left New York before but sometimes, you just gotta get out.

But holidays on the west coast just can't compare to holidays in New York City.

I know but the thing is, my dream has always been to go to Target and buy heavy things, like laundry detergent or something, and all I gotta do is put it in my car, drive home and just bring it in the house. That doesn’t happen in New York, at all. That’s my fantasy and in Los Angeles, I get to do that.

What does the typical Awkwafina holiday look like?

When November comes around and Fall starts to dissipate, I start to become hungry for food and it just feels very natural to not do anything. I like to be lazy; all I want to do is listen to Christmas music, smell the crisp air, and just be around family.

What's your favorite classic Christmas tune?

"Walking In a Winter Wonderland" because as soon as the music starts, I feel like I'm rollerskating at Rockefeller Center.

I was hoping you'd say "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" because DMX made his own version to it. Maybe there's a Awkwafina Christmas remix in the future?

He did?!? [Laughs] That's literally the only thing I want to listen to tonight, thank you. DMX's ad libs are insane!

If you could indulge in one thing this holiday, what would it be?

A giant spiral ham.

With the success of Crazy Rich Asians, what are you gifting yourself this year?

I'm sitting this one out, no gifts for me but I'm gonna give my dad a really good gift.

What would Peik Lin give Crazy Rich Asian's Nick Young (Henry Golding) and Rachel Chu (Constance Wu)?

Hmm, Nick Young would probably get a nice, gold watch. Rachel, I'd give her a round of applause for standing up for herself against Elenor (Michelle Yeoh).

What would you give Peik Lin for Christmas?

If I had it, probably more money and property. [Laughs] Oh, and silk pajamas.

What's your tip for surviving the holiday season?

Make sure you don’t chaff too much. Stay moisturized!
