NEW YORK (AP) _ Axsome Therapeutics Inc. (AXSM) on Monday reported a loss of $29.2 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 78 cents.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 73 cents per share.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $102.9 million, or $2.77 per share.

Axsome shares have declined 17% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 18% in the last 12 months.
