Ayesha Curry Slams an Instagram Troll For Rudely Bodyshaming Her 10-Month-Old Son

In the latest edition of “For the Love of God, Stop Talking Rudely About Children on the Internet,” Ayesha Curry had to slam an Instagram troll for bodyshaming her son, Canon. Canon, we should mention, is only 10 months old. 10 months! Are you serious, trolls of Instagram? Not only are you going to come for Curry, who is arguably an angel in human form, but you’re also going to crack jokes at the expense of one of her three heart-achingly precious children? Y’all, I’m tired.

On Wednesday night, Curry posted a lovely group photo of herself, her husband Steph Curry, and her children, Riley, 6, Ryan, 3, and Canon, who is 10 months. The Curry family posed with a few of Curry’s Golden State Warrior teammates and their families after the Warriors won at the NBA Western Conference Championship. Everyone looks happy and on a post-win high, especially Curry and Steph, who both appear in photos holding Canon.

“Infinitely proud of these guys. God’s grace and mercy continues to cover our family and we are so grateful,” Curry wrote in celebration of her husband and his teammates. “Not about wins and losses, it’s all about family. Moments like this simply put it all into perspective.”

The reactions to the photo set were mostly positive, but things got dicey really quickly when one commenter hopped in with a comment about Curry’s body (UGH). Instagram user @6493jay commented on Curry’s photo with “Are you pregnant again?????” and added in a pregnant woman emoji, just to make it clear that they obviously are curious about a personal matter that has nothing to do with them. It’s also unclear why @6493jay would feel compelled to ask this because there is nothing to indicate Curry could be pregnant but again, who cares, this is none of our business.

Curry seemed to take it in stride, replying, “Absolutely not LOL. My 30lb son is just breaking my back in every photo.”

Things quickly took a turn for the worse at Curry’s mention of Canon’s current weight. In a since-deleted Instagram comment, one person wrote, “Maybe portion-control his food a bit,” which led Curry to fire back with, “Excuse you? No. Just no.”

Other Instagram commenters reacted similarly to Curry’s disclosure about Canon’s weight, writing things like, “Thirty lbs?!?!? He’s bigger than my 19-month-old nephew,” which again, are just not okay. It’s never okay to comment on another person’s weight, let alone an toddler’s weight. Also, like, why are these people so focused on Canon’s weight? This child is happy and well-cared for. Let him live!

The Currys have always been loving, involved parents. Curry regularly shares her life and journey as a mother to her three kids on Instagram. We should be focused on celebrating her and her children, not tearing them down with negative comments.
