Ayo Dosunmu records his 2nd triple-double in 4 games, leading No. 5 Illinois to a 94-63 rout of Minnesota

Illinois clicked from start to finish Saturday in a 94-63 victory at Minnesota, getting another star performance from Ayo Dosunmu.

The junior guard sizzled again with his second triple-double in four games — 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists — to become the first player in program history to accomplish the feat twice. His first came Feb. 6 in a victory against Wisconsin.

Dosunmu, one of only three Illini players to record a triple-double, owns two of the three registered in the Big Ten this season.

Illinois (16-5, 12-3) pulled into a first-place tie with Michigan (15-1, 10-1) in the Big Ten, though the Illini trail by two games in the loss column. The Wolverines play at No. 4 Ohio State (18-4, 12-4) on Sunday.

Illinois guard Trent Frazier finished with 15 points, added an eye-popping six steals and drained a half-court 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer. He also helped lock down Minnesota guard Marcus Carr, who entered the game averaging 19.4 points but was held to 12 points on 3-of-11 shooting.

Center Kofi Cockburn delivered with 22 points and six rebounds, and Jacob Grandison had a career-high 12 points and four assists for the Illini.

Illinois dominated in nearly every statistical category: 37-27 in rebounding, 48-20 in points in the paint and 31-8 in fast-break points.

The Gophers have struggled defensively with Gabe Kalscheur sidelined with a broken finger. Center Liam Robbins, hobbled with an ankle injury, was scoreless with only one rebound.

Illinois delivered the Gophers just their second home loss of the season.
