🌱 AZ Dem Gov. Hopefuls Raise Big Money + Water Shutoffs Resume

Morning, people of Phoenix! It's me again, Caitlin Sievers, your host of the Phoenix Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and cool. High: 63 Low: 41.

Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Aaron Lieberman and Marco Lopez, hopefuls in the Democratic primary for Arizona governor against frontrunner Katie Hobbs, both announced Monday that their campaigns had raised more than seven figures. Hobbs did not release her fundraising achievements, and neither did any of the major Republican candidates looking to snag the GOP nomination. (Arizona Mirror)

  2. The city of Phoenix's water service department is set, in February, to begin shutting off water service for customers who have bills more than 31 days past due, after suspending shutoffs for residential customers for almost 2 years. The Phoenix City Council voted in March 2020 to continue water service to all residential customers, even if they had past-due bills. (ABC15 Arizona)

  3. The Food and Drug Administration has authorized the Pfizer COVID-19 booster for children as young as 12, but it won't be available to local teens and tweens until the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rules on the expanded access later this week. If you're worried about protecting your child amid the recent uptick in cases, you can still take a look at local vaccination options, so you'll be ready when boosters are available locally.
