Baby arrived at hospital in August with severe injuries. Plainfield man arrested this week

A 38-year-old Plainfield man has been arrested in connection with an assault on an infant that left the child with “severe injuries,” police said.

Sean Holmes was taken into custody by Plainfield police on Tuesday and charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor.

On Aug. 10, Plainfield officers received a complaint from the state Department of Children and Families concerning a 5-month-old child admitted to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.

The report stated the child had suffered severe injuries believed to have been sustained in the Wauregan section of town. Police said they identified the residence where the assault allegedly occurred and executed a search and seizure warrant with the help of state police detectives.

Police said a warrant for Holmes arrest was granted on Tuesday and he was arrested later that day. Holmes was being held on a $500,000 court-set bond and was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at Danielson Superior Court.
