Baby born just in time to share birthday with both parents. ‘The best birthday present’

A baby was born just in time to share a birthday with both of her parents — making for an “extra special” delivery.

Newborn girl Lennon Scott came into the world at 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 18, giving her mom and dad another reason to celebrate, according to the Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children in Alabama.

“Dylan Scott and I received the best birthday present we could imagine,” the girl’s mom, Cassidy Scott, wrote on Facebook. “Our sweet Lennon Kate came into the world to share a birthday with both of her parents. We are overjoyed to start our journey as parents to this beautiful baby.”

The hospital posted a photo of the new family of three and asked Facebook users to chime in with birthday wishes.

Dozens of people responded with congratulatory messages, as some posted similar stories of sharing a birthday with their children.

“My husband, myself and our first born, our son, all share the same birthday,” one person wrote in the comments. “Welcome to the club!”

Still, Lennon Scott’s birth was rare. The baby had a “one in 133,000” chance of having the same birthday as her parents, according to the hospital.

While experts have said the birthday calculation overlooks leap years and other factors, being born on your parents’ birthday is less likely than the odds of being struck by lightning, which stand at about 1 in 12,000, the Associated Press reported in 2017.

Cassidy Scott didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment on Dec. 23.
