Baby eagles at Lake Casitas near Ojai learn landing is harder than flying

The eaglets have landed. Kind of.

Two baby birds were born in April at the Lake Casitas Recreation Area near Ojai. Their parents, nicknamed Hannah and Mr. Majestic, are believed to be the only nesting pair of bald eagles on Ventura County's mainland.

The fledglings, nicknamed Storm and Spring, each took their initial flight on Sunday. Two days later, the eaglets were still figuring out the whole landing thing. Photographer Dan Dolinh of Camarillo documented their efforts in video.

The immediate area around the eucalyptus tree used by the eagles is roped off to protect the birds. Viewers can watch the nest, and, if they're lucky, the flying fledglings, from a trail a safe distance away.
