Baby found dead at Lodi homeless encampment, mother arrested
A woman in Lodi is facing murder charges in the death of her baby after giving birth in an encampment, authorities said. Ebonie Allen, 23, was arrested after authorities found a deceased infant along State Route 99 near Pine Street in San Joaquin County, the California Highway Patrol said in a release on Thursday. Allen went to Lodi Memorial Hospital on Wednesday and said she had given birth within the homeless encampment, CHP said. Officers were contacted around 4:47 p.m. and the fire department was sent to go search the camp.
