Baby Yoda, 'Old Town Road' and more top entertainment Google searches of 2019

What did the United States search the most in 2019? Google has the answers.

The tech giant released its 2019 Year In Search, which outlines the top trending searches of the year.

Among the searches were lots of the year's most popular movies, music and celebrities.

Here's a breakdown of some of the top searches, divided by categories.

ACTORS

1. Jussie Smollett – The former "Empire" actor garnered sympathy around the country after claiming he was the victim of a brutal racist, homophobic attack in Chicago. Details later emerged that told a much different story, and he was accused of orchestrating the entire attack.

2. Kevin Hart – The actor stepped down from hosting the Oscars in 2018 following controversy over past homophobic tweets and comments. Later in the year, a car crash left Hart with a major back injury. In December, he told Ellen DeGeneres that he is "about 65 to 75%" back to his previous physical abilities.

3. Lori Loughlin – The "Full House" star who, along with husband fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, was accused of paying $500,000 to get their two daughters falsely classified as crew recruits to be admitted into the University of Southern California.

4. Felicity Huffman – The other face of Operation Varsity Blues. The actress pleaded guilty in April to paying $15,000 to have someone correct answers on the SAT test of her oldest daughter, Sophia.

5. Keanu Reeves – The actor was a fan fav in 2019, becoming one of the internet's favorite stars of the summer. This was propelled in part to his starring role as the dog-loving assassin in "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum," which propelled the franchise past the $500 million mark.

MUSICIANS AND BANDS

1. R. Kelly – After nearly two decades of sexual assault and misconduct allegations against him, Kelly was indicted in February and gave an intense interview a month later with Gayle King.

2. 21 Savage – The rapper, a British citizen who moved to the U.S. when he was 7, was held in federal immigration detention this year. His visa expired in 2006, but his lawyers had said that wasn’t his fault. Federal immigration officials have known 21 Savage’s status since at least 2017, when he applied for a new visa.

3. Billie Eilish – The dark pop newcomer has blown up this year, charting a string of hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100, performing at Lollapalooza and more. She is also the youngest nominee in Grammy history to be nominated in all four major categories, according to the Recording Academy.

4. Lil Nas X – Thanks to his chart-topping track “Old Town Road," which has landed him nominations for 6 Grammy Awards, the singer has been everywhere this year.

5. A$AP Rocky – The rapper made international headlines when he was convicted of assault in a June 30 street brawl in Stockholm, Sweden. He was later released from Swedish custody.

Other entertainment-related searches that appeared in other categories were the deaths of Cameron Boyce (who ranked No. 1 in the "Passings" category), Nipsey Hussle (2) and Luke Perry (3).

Jussie Smollett, Kevin Hart and R. Kelly also made it in the top 5 searches under the "People" category, and Disney Plus, Cameron Boyce and Nipsey Hussle ranked as the top three, respectively, in the overall "Searches" category.

The "Babies" category also yield entertainment-focused results, with the top five searches being: Baby Yoda, Baby Shark, Royal baby, Kim Kardashian Kanye West baby and Cardi B baby.
