  • Bachelor in Paradise bartender Wells Adams just revealed to Women's Health why Dylan Barbour "really impressed" him.

  • Meanwhile, John Paul Jones was "a victim of his age," Wells says.

  • Wells adds, "I thought Dylan was the most emotionally intelligent and mature."

If you don't hear the phrases "most dramatic night ever," "here for the right reasons," and "too immature for marriage," you probably don't have the sound on for Bachelor in Paradise. Those phrases are ridiculously common on the reality TV show—and for good freakin' reason. At the end of six weeks, former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants are supposed to get engaged, but—surprise, surprise—that doesn't always happen. So, what separates the serious couples from the summer flings? Well, your friendly beachside bartender Wells Adams has a few insights on certain cast member's maturity or, ahem, lack-thereof. (Right on cue as the remaining Bachelor in Paradise couples have serious talks and plan the rest of their lives together, nbd.)

For the past three seasons, Wells has gotten to observe the contestants (from the safety of behind the bar) and also has a few years on all of the young lovers (yes, even veteran Chris Bukowski), so listen up.

"I thought Dylan was the most emotionally intelligent and mature, and he’s the youngest guy there," Wells tells Women's Health. "What I was really impressed with with Dylan is he got there, he talked to everybody, he realized he only had eyes for one person, and he stuck with it. He was really mature in being like, 'I know what I want, and you’re who I want, and if you don’t want me, that’s totally fine. But I’m not going to stick around.'"

Watch Wells' own reality-TV-to-real-life love story with Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland:

Dylan did stick around for Hannah Godwin, though—even when it seemed like she might pick Blake Horstmann over him. "The poor kid had to go through a lot, and I think a less mature man would have spiraled out," says Wells. "I don’t know if I would’ve been able to handle it as well as he did. So, you know, for a 24-year-old kid, I thought he handled himself really well." (Btw, Dylan celebrated his 25th birthday in June and jokes about his maturity, too.)

That's not how Paradise plays out for everyone, though. John Paul Jones, also 24, had a few stumbles. (Remember all those cringe-y fights with Derek Peth? Yeah... not a good look.) "So I think we all thought it was a little bit of projection, of him kind of projecting himself onto Derek and trying to figure out a way to get the girl," Wells says. "I think that he’s a victim of his age. I think that was a pretty immature moment on the show. But it makes sense. He’s, like, 24, you know, I get it."

Will JPJ redeem himself during the finale of Bachelor in Paradise? You can watch all the delicious drama tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.
