The past season of The Bachelorette featured two leads for the first time in franchise history. Now it looks as though season 17 will keep the momentum going—with two hosts and no Chris Harrison

Here’s everything we know about Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette, coming this June.

The new Bachelorette is... Katie Thurston from James’s season was announced as the new Bachelorette during the After the Final Rose special on March 15. (Also revealed: Michelle Young, another contestant from James’s season, will be the Bachelorette for the following season!)

It’s being filmed in New Mexico. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Bachelor Nation has picked up shop and moved out of the Bachelor Mansion in Agoura Hills, California, in favor of all-inclusive resorts that could offer a safe quarantine “bubble” as well as options for one-on-one and group dates. ABC didn’t venture too far for Clare Crowley and Tayshia Adams’s season, opting to shoot at Waldorf Astoria’s La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, California. Then The Bachelor flew all the way to Farmington, Pennsylvania, to film Matt James’s season at the Nemacolin Resort. Now they’re going southwest.

As of March 14, The Bachelorette is in preproduction, with cast and crew seen quarantining at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa, just outside Albuquerque.

Chris Harrison will not be hosting. Although Harrison had already announced he’d be stepping back from the franchise over the Rachel Kirkconnell controversy, fans weren’t sure if that meant just the “After the Final Rose” ceremony, which is being hosted by Emmanuel Acho. However, when he wasn’t spotted on location, speculation ramped up.

On March 12, Warner Horizon and ABC Entertainment released a statement on the official Bachelorette Twitter account.

“Chris Harrison will not be hosting the next season of The Bachelorette. We support Chris in the work that he is committed to doing,” the statement read. “As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion within The Bachelor franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew, including among the executive producer ranks. These are important steps in effecting fundamental change so that our franchise is a celebration of love that is reflective of our world.”

Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will be taking over hosting duties. In that same statement, ABC revealed that Bachelor Nation alums Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will “support the new Bachelorette” next season.

Adams found love on the last season of The Bachelorette and is currently engaged to contestant Zac Clark while Bristowe starred in season 11.

“Let’s go girls,” Bristowe wrote on Instagram following the announcement. She then shut down a few trolls who were upset over Harrison, according to People. “Truthfully we are there to support the new bachelorette,” she replied to one Instagram user. “We aren’t ‘replacing’ anyone!!!”

Adams also took to Instagram Stories to discuss the change. “I feel so honored to be given the opportunity, but I’m just so, so, so happy,” she said, per People. “And I’m so happy that you guys are happy. I’ve been getting so many phenomenal messages and words of encouragement; it means so much.”

She also said Harrison called and congratulated her on her new role. “And the fact that I talked to Chris the other day and he was so kind and congratulated me for being part of the next season meant the absolute world,” she said. “So with that being said, y’all, let’s freakin' go! Bachelorette 17, your girl’s here, baby!”

The premiere date is set. Katie Thurston’s Bachelorette season kicks off June 7 at 8 p.m., while Bachelor in Paradise is set to return August 16.

The first promo is here! “I never want to stop pursuing love,” Thurston said in the first teaser trailer for her season, which will air during the Oscars on April 25. “I am someone who knows who they are. My person is still out there.”

And a second one dropped in May. She’s telling her contestants to see the door if they’re not there for the right reasons.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
