Backdoor Theatre presents 'Wait until Dark'

Backdoor Theatre will present "Wait Until Dark" on the Main Stage October 7-22.

Murder, secret identities, and an antique figurine will set the stage for this white-knuckle thriller that will leave you sleeping with the lights on.

While Susan’s husband Sam is away on business, a woman is murdered. The mystery begins to unravel, leaving Susan tangled up with ruthless con men in her Greenwich Village basement apartment. Susan's recent blindness and vulnerability allow the audience to experience the terrors of the story. The climax builds, light becomes dark, and a battle of wits ensues - all leading to this classic thriller’s chilling conclusion.

This production features three casts. Friday/Saturday cast includes Lauren Loskot as Susan, Joey Diaz as Sam, Kip Yates as Roat, David Cook as Mike, Scott Felion as Carlino, Katie Miltner as Gloria (on Fridays), and Phoebe Taylor as Gloria (on Saturdays). Thursday cast includes Trenatee Smith-Jackson as Susan, Rowan Hardman as Sam, Johnathan Coraccio as Roat, Fern Velez as Mike, Collin McDonald as Carlino, and Max Carrizales as Gloria.

"The show has so many clues in the dialogue that you will need to see it at least twice," says Backdoor Theatre's Managing Director Jessica Wood. "We are proud of the work these casts put in, and encourage our audiences to see the show more than once! Lauren and Trenatee bring different strengths to Susan, and the audience can see how those character choices are highlighted in the show's climax. Each cast has brought their spin to these characters and creates a different show for every night."

"Wait Until Dark" is directed Brandi Perkins with stage management by Tabitha Cahanin, and assistant stage management by Max Carrizales. Rounding out the technical and creative crew are Carter Wallace (Lighting Design & Costumes), Brian Perkins and Wayne Smith (Set Design & Build), and Rigby Alexander (Sound Design & Board Op).

"The set and lighting are their own characters in our production. They bring the show to life. We've built a basement apartment with a running fridge, running water, and working lights on the Main Stage," says Backdoor Theatre's Artistic/Technical Director Carter Wallace. "Several practical lights on stage play key roles in Susan's fight as she introduces the con men into her world. We are excited for audiences to see this all come to life."

There will be information in the production's playbill and the Main Stage lobby highlighting Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind, a Wichita Falls nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the economic and personal independence of people who are blind or visually impaired.

This show does contain suspenseful themes, some adult language, and the use of herbal cigarettes, and it is recommended for those 10+. Don't wait - get your tickets at www.backdoortheatre.org or call 940-322-5000.
