Cade Fortin replaces backup Malik Hornsby as Arkansas football quarterback vs. LSU

Arkansas football made a quarterback change in the second half of its matchup against LSU.

After KJ Jefferson was ruled out due to shoulder soreness, backup quarterback Malik Hornsby was chosen to start for the Razorbacks. However, after completing only four passes for 24 yards, Arkansas made the switch to Cade Fortin with five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Fortin threw a sharp pass to Matt Landers for 40 yards on his second drive of the game to give the Razorbacks their first touchdown.

Fortin only appeared in two other games for the Razorbacks this season, and recorded six completions for 43 total yards. He earned his first career start during the 40-17 loss to Mississippi State.

He began his career as a backup quarterback at North Carolina for three seasons. Fortin transferred to South Florida for the 2021 season and started one game before coming to Arkansas.

The Razorbacks' score cut the deficit to 13-10 in the fourth quarter.
