Here are the top stories in Lakewood today:

  1. Metro Denver is one of the worst areas for ozone pollution. A recent study by the American Lung Association has several Denver metro communities on the list for the worst ozone conditions in the U.S. This probably won't surprise some, as the EPA recently moved to designate the Front Range as a severe violator of ozone standards. (FOX31)

  2. Today's fire danger warning is considered extremely dangerous. Lakewood and most of Colorado, outside of the mountains, will be under a Red Flag warning starting at 11 a.m. on Friday. A Red Flag warning is issued when there is high fire danger, usually due to adverse weather conditions. (CBS4)

  3. City of Lakewood launches a citywide master planning effort. The City of Lakewood wants your input for arts, parks and recreation programming. You can visit the Imagine Tomorrow project page for meeting details and subscribe for project updates. (Patch)

  4. El Paso County fentanyl deaths have doubled in the past year. Tragic and often unintentional, fentanyl-related deaths continue to rise across the state. El Paso County's Coroner recently reported that the number of deaths in 2021 had nearly doubled. (9News)

  5. EVs are coming to Colorado. A bill that is working its way through the state legislature would require most new commercial and residential buildings to include electric car charging stations. (Patch)
